Could the latest heist of a Tallahassee credit union Friday be the work of the “Hard Hat Bandit?”
Police say the masked man, wearing a tool belt, jeans and work shirt, dust mask and a hard hat, robbed the Envision Credit Union at 421 Appleyard Drive around 4:26 p.m. Friday. They are however hesitant to say whether he is a suspect in a similar robbery last month.
Friday, the man passed a teller a note indicating he had a weapon and demanded money before absconding with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The same man may have attempted another robbery earlier in the day before getting cold feet, police say.
Two hours earlier, a man entered the Envision branch at 3190 Apalachee Parkway in the same clothing caught on surveillance footage at the Appleyard location. He stood in line for less than a minute before walking out. Police say he did not make any threats.
The man’s clothing is similar to that worn by a robbery suspect who police are still searching for after a hold up at another credit union.
A masked man dressed as a construction worker robbed the 1st Commerce Credit on Old St. Augustine Road Oct. 16. but police are hesitant to confirm that he may be the same suspect without any solid evidence of the man’s identity.
