Welcome to Sheffield Vermont #aco #containers

#

Each Labor Day Sheffield holds its annual Field Day, with a parade and various activities, contests and events, to benefit the Sheffield-Wheelock Fire Department, Food Pantry, camp scholarships and other worthwhile causes.

Sheffield is the site of a 16 turbine commercial wind energy operation. The turbines are designed to generate 100,000 megawatt hours of energy, enough to power approximately 12,600 Vermont homes. The operators of the wind farm pay Sheffield $520,000 annually and some $250,000 to the State Education Fund from the operation of the wind farm.

The Transfer Station is NOT for the disposal of commercial waste.

Bulky Daysare those designated dates on which large and/or bulky items, such as bedding, furniture, etc. may be brought to the Transfer Station for disposal. As the cost to operate the Transfer Station is reflected in the taxes that the residents of Sheffield and Wheelock must pay, everything that helps reduce that cost is a direct savings to the taxpayers of the communities. To help minimize expenses and ensure that there is the right amount of container space for all items, it is requested that anyone who will be disposing of items at an upcoming Bulky Day contact the Transfer Station personnel as soon as possible at (802) 626-8117 between the hours of 8 A.M. and 5 P.M. on any Wednesday or Saturday and let the personnel there know, as accurately as possible, what items will be brought for disposal.

A complete list of items accepted at their site may be found at www.nekwmd.org
